Spoke were enlisted to help Depression Alliance raise money and break the stigma attached to depression with ex England striker, Stan Collymore. The Text STAN campaign was created to help to fund a new service that connects people who are suffering from depression.
An SMS donation service was implemented behind the campaign, which enabled people to donate £5 to the charity by simply texting STAN to a unique short code number. Supporters were also given the chance to enter a prize draw for the chance to win one of many prizes donated by Collymore’s industry contacts, including a gold disk from the Editors, Soccer AM audience tickets, Arsenal club seats and football shirts from Rooney, Defoe and Evra.
The Text STAN campaign was promoted on the Depression Alliance website and by Stan Collymore himself, via his twitter page and radio show. The campaign proved hugely successful, resulting in interactions from over 6,000 supporters, raising over £30,000 in just 6 weeks.
“The SMS donation service and prize draw from Spoke made it simple and fun for supporters to donate. The money raised will go a long way towards helping us build the new platform that will enable people who are suffering from depression to connect”
Emer O’Neill, Chief Executive of Depression Alliance
